A LITTLE HISTORY: The ‘Recovery Church’, Central Park United Methodist Church, (CPUMC), as it’s known in St. Paul Minnesota, is located at 639 Jackson Street, It’s downtown and just a block north of Interstate-94, across from Regions Hospital west entrance and just a two block walk east from the Minnesota State capitol. CPUMC donates the space for recovery productions Like Dry Bones Blues Festival. A unique partnership of Sober Rose Productions, Friday Night Sober Jammers, and CPUMC exists. Each of the entities has a vested interest in recovery and making music sober. When Miki Lewis, of Devlin Entertainment, who grew up as a young man with a guitar strapped to his back in the Mount Airy Housing area up the street from the church, saw the Friday Sober Jammers dedication and staying power, (it will be Jammers fourth year anniversary this August 25th), in his old neighborhood, he added his entertainment company stable of 100’s of musicians and added to the ninety musician contacts the Jammers had fostered and a formidable deal evolved namely The first annual AIR CONDITIONED DRY BONES BLUES FESTIVAL, (see Ezekiel 37..on people getting things together ). The Saturday June 17th date corresponded with Second Annual St. Paul Raspberry Island Blues Festival. The plan evolved for a community blues review that would be attractive to recovery people; promote blues musicians, please blues music lovers in general. Yeah!..secondly we could help promote the blues with an alternate venue…and paint the town blue so to speak.
